Bridge Construction Cranes for Beams & Steel Girders

Lift bridge components from the casting bed to storage, transporter loading and the construction workfront.

Henan Mine Crane manufactures bridge construction cranes for precast girders, steel box sections and heavy bridge structures. Rail-mounted gantries, double-trolley arrangements and mobile carriers are selected around the component, lifting points and construction sequence.

Receive an equipment layout, lifting specifications, runway reactions and an itemized quotation. The crane package connects the lifting operation with the civil works, site access and installation plan.

Crane Equipment Built Around Your Bridge Project

Rail-mounted construction gantries

MGG engineering gantries and double-girder hook gantries serve beam beds, storage lanes, steel assembly areas and loading positions. The structure, hoist and travel system follow the defined lifting operation.

Long-beam lifting arrangements

Two trolley positions or a coordinated crane arrangement can be specified for girders with widely spaced lifting points. Individual hook loads, control modes and lifting-device interfaces are included in the engineering scope.

Mobile yard handling

Precast concrete carriers move components between separated pickup and placement points. Machine clearance, steering space, loaded routes and pavement reactions are considered together.

Drawings and an itemized supply scope

The proposal identifies crane coverage, hook travel, structural reactions, power connections and priced equipment. Installation support, lifting attachments, runway components and spare parts are listed within the agreed scope.

50–100 t Winch Gantry Crane Specifications

These rail-mounted winch gantry configurations provide three starting layouts for bridge-component handling. Each column describes a specific span and lifting arrangement.

Select Capacity, Coverage and Duty as One System

Start with the complete lifted load

The lifting schedule includes the girder or steel module together with the spreader, lifting beam, slings and other carried equipment. Center-of-gravity offset and lifting-point reactions determine the load at each hook. Demolding and turning are assessed as separate load cases.

Check the full route, including the trailer

Span is measured between rail centers; usable coverage also depends on hook approach, leg opening and any specified cantilever. Our layout accounts for component depth, rigging height, storage supports and transporter deck height so the load can reach every planned pickup and placement position.

Match the crane to the construction schedule

Beam moves per shift, travel distance and the load spectrum determine mechanism duty and operating speeds. Where the crane will move to another work area, transport sections, assembly access and dismantling provisions are considered before manufacture.

Compare Bridge Construction Crane Configurations

Crane configuration Suitable lifting operation What the arrangement provides
MGG construction gantry crane Temporary bridge and civil-engineering work areas. A construction gantry platform with double main girders, a truss / steel-pipe support structure and winch lifting.
Double-girder hook gantry crane Fixed beam storage, steel assembly and loading lanes. Rail-served lifting coverage with capacity, hook height and leg clearance matched to the load.
Double-trolley truss gantry crane Long girders with two defined lifting positions. Two trolley positions for engineered individual or coordinated lifting modes.
MDG L-type gantry crane Long loads requiring extra passage near the supporting leg. L-shaped leg geometry with a winch-based lifting arrangement.
Precast concrete straddle carrier Travel between separated yard pickup and placement points. Mobile lifting and transport along a suitable engineered route.
Double-girder overhead crane Indoor fabrication of steel bridge components. Building-runway coverage for manufacturing and assembly bays.

Controlled Two-Point Lifting for Long Girders

Long bridge beams often need lifting points well apart from one another. Henan Mine Crane coordinates trolley positions, lifting-beam geometry and the permitted operating combinations with the approved component lifting design.

The specified system can include coordinated hoisting, controlled low-speed motion and load monitoring. The design defines the allowable load at each hook and the response to a fault or loss of coordination.

Two 50 t cranes do not automatically form an approved 100 t lifting system. Load distribution, complete suspended weight, crane geometry and the lift sequence must all fit the engineered arrangement. For precast elements, release strength and lifting-anchor limits follow the approved element design.

Runways, Wind Protection and Temporary Works

Crane reactions for the civil designer

The engineering package provides wheel loads and the applicable horizontal reactions for runway design. Rail alignment, foundation stiffness, settlement and drainage are coordinated with the site designer, including temporary construction stages.

Outdoor controls and storm parking

The equipment specification addresses site wind conditions, electrical enclosure protection, coatings, travel limits and parking or anchoring arrangements. Wind monitoring, collision prevention and operating-zone controls can be included where the project requires them. Operating and securing limits follow the final crane and load design.

Deck-supported and elevated installations

Where a crane or erection system bears on a completed deck, pier or temporary support, the bridge designer assesses the construction-stage reactions and permitted support positions. Ground-runway capacity alone does not establish suitability for deck-supported operation.

Bridge Construction Projects by Henan Mine Crane

Jianzhou Bridge: 75 t capacity across a 72 m span

Henan Mine Crane supplied a large-span gantry crane for the Jianzhou Bridge steel box-girder project. The installation combines 75 t rated capacity, a 72 m span and 23 m lifting height to serve the wide bridge construction corridor. The project shows how working width and vertical clearance can drive crane design alongside load capacity.

Bridge Construction Crane FAQs

Which crane is used for bridge construction?

Rail-mounted gantry cranes handle precast beams, steel box girders and bridge modules within a defined work area. Mobile precast carriers connect separated yard locations, while overhead cranes serve covered fabrication bays. The equipment combination follows the component and construction method.

Is a beam-yard gantry the same as a launching gantry?

No. A yard gantry lifts within its runway or travel area. A launching gantry advances along the bridge alignment to erect girders or segments and requires its own support, launching and erection design. Yard loading and the erection handover are coordinated as separate stages.

Can two 50 t cranes lift a 100 t bridge beam?

Not on the basis of their nameplate capacities alone. The complete lifted load includes rigging and lifting devices, and each crane must remain within its permitted load throughout the lift. Coordinated operation, unequal load sharing and the approved lifting sequence determine suitability.

Can Henan Mine Crane supply a large-span bridge gantry?

Yes. The Jianzhou Bridge project includes a 75 t gantry crane with a 72 m span and 23 m lifting height. Each new installation is engineered for its own load, wind conditions, runway and construction clearances.

Is A3 duty suitable for every beam yard?

No. A3 applies to the specific winch gantry configurations shown. Frequent production lifting may require a different crane and mechanism duty, selected from the actual load spectrum and operating cycle.

Can the crane operate in strong wind?

Operation is limited by the approved crane and load conditions. Large bridge sections can present substantial wind area. Wind monitoring, operating limits and storm parking or anchoring provisions are specified for the installation.

How much does a bridge construction crane cost?

The listed standard 30–100 t rail-mounted double-girder gantries have approximate equipment budgets of US$40,000–200,000+ per crane. Large-span, mobile and ultra-heavy bridge systems are quoted for the selected project configuration.

What is included in a bridge crane proposal?

The proposal sets out the crane arrangement, working coverage, technical specification, lifting-device interfaces and itemized supply scope. Engineering and handover documents, inspection requirements, delivery milestones and site-support services are defined in the offer.
